Reviving Our Spirits ~ Transforming Our Politics

About the Hosts

Sojourners/Call to Renewal (www.sojo.net)

Our mission is to articulate the biblical call to social justice, inspiring hope and building a movement to transform individuals, communities, the church, and the world.
In response to this call, we offer a vision for faith in public life by:

  • publishing Sojourners magazine, SojoMail and other resources that address issues of faith, politics, and culture from a biblical perspective;
  • preaching, teaching, organizing, and public witness;
  • nurturing community by bringing together people from the various traditions and streams of the church;
  • hosting an annual program of voluntary service for education, ministry, and discipleship.

In our lives and in our work, we seek to be guided by the biblical principles of justice, mercy, and humility.

Center for Action and Contemplation

The Center for Action and Contemplation Offices The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC), located in Albuquerque,New Mexico, was founded in 1987 by Franciscan Father Richard Rohr who saw the need for a training/formation center that would allow spiritually seeking people to balance social action with contemplation and contemplation with social action.Committed to offering a constructive message of the Gospel that crosses boundaries of religion, ethnicity, social class and gender, the CAC provides numerous programs and resources aimed at offering hope, inspiration and challenge to a despairing world. Such programs include the Home Grown Nutrition Program in Juarez Mexico (20 community gardens established by the CAC to ease the hunger and malnutrition of people living in an impoverished community located on a former dump in Juarez), Stillpoint (the CAC's contemplative house and hermitage that embraces simple, sustainable living and environmental conscious living), Meditation Garden (a bountiful expanse of vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and contemplative tools such as a labyrinth behind the Stillpoint), the Official Albuquerque AIDS Memorial Chapel (a peaceful, quiet and sacred space dedicated to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS where the community gathers daily in contemplation). And, finally, the Mustard Seed, the CAC resource center where you can obtain the teachings of Fr. Richard and other spiritual guides.
