Year Beginning Conference

A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Lives

AYear Beginning Conference with
Paula D’Arcy and Richard Rohr, OFM

Both Richard and Paula believe that much personal and church confusion could be helped by clearly distinguishing the tasks of the two halves of life. Much of institutional religion is concerned with the tasks of the first half of life. The need for adults is to move onto the tasks of the second half of life, which are much closer to the concerns of Jesus, Buddha, and the mystics of all religions. Come prepared for both stages to be affirmed and challenged for yourselves, and to recognize the immense implications for raising our children and our young people.

The Center for Action and Contemplation invites you to prepare for your new year by attending this exciting conference which will offer major teachings, workshops, silence, group discussions and Liturgical celebrations.

Paula D’Arcy

Paula D’Arcy, writer, retreat leader, conference and seminar speaker, travels widely in the United States, Canada, and abroad. Paula is a psychotherapist who ministered to those facing issues of grief and loss. Today her work includes leading workshops and retreats related to spirituality, aspiring writers, and women’s gatherings, including Women’s Initiation and Rites of Passage. In recent years she has also teamed with Richard Rohr to present seminars on the Male/Female Journey. A couple of Paula’s books include Red Fire: A Quest for Awakening and A New Set of Eyes: Encountering the Hidden God.

Richard Rohr, OFM

Fr. Richard Rohr is a Franciscan of the New Mexico province. He was the founder of New Jerusalem Community in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1971, and the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1986, where he presently serves as Founding Director. Richard considers the proclamation of the Gospel to be his primary call, and uses many different platforms to communicate that message. He is probably best known for his numerous audio and video tapes, books and through the Center’s quarterly newspaper, Radical Grace.
