HomeGrown Nutrition Program
This project recently began at the CAC in November of 2003 and involves multiple trips to Juarez, Mexico. Anyone who is able is welcome to join Chuck on these two-day trips. compost bins

Garbage to Gold: Composting
Joren Viers lead this workshop focusing on the many different types of composting. During the workshop, a compost pile was made using the three bin composting system intergrated with an ongoing discussion of composting throughout the morning.

cold frames

Cold Frames
Chuck O'Herron-Alex lead this workshop on double-digging and the use of cold frames to grow throughout the winter. Two cold-frames were construced and are currently full of lettuces (December 11).

seed harvesting workshop Seed Harvesting
Brett Baker of the New Mexico Organic Commodity Commission came to the CAC to instruct us on seed harvesting and saving. Althoug the turn-out was not as large as the other workshops the wealth of knowledge that Brett shared with us allows us to begin to harvest our own seed and have it stay viable until planting.
