Easter

Risen Jesus, we ask that we might be a less defended,
we ask that we might be able to live a more disarmed life,
that we might be able to be secure enough
in your universal love
to trust a bit of insecurity in this world.
We want to live in solidarity with those
who have no choice in the matter.
You yourself came among us as a “lamb” of a God,
completely vulnerable before all of reality.
We “lions” are still trying to get that message.

Take us close to you today
and teach us the truth we each need to hear.
Accept our flaws, Jesus,
the ones that we cannot accept ourselves.
Heal our wounds that wound us in places even unknown to us.
Help us to forgive ourselves and one another—
and the world for being what it is.
None of us has become who we thought we were going to be.
Our judgments cannot be wiser or greater than yours,
and if You say it is all forgiven,
How dare we try to make a higher or better judgment?
What you have let go of, help us not to hold on to.
You, you who know everything through and through,
are the very One who forgives and absorbs everything
through and through.
We stand in awe and surrender before such Mystery.
